Florida dominated this game except for a few minutes in the third quarter. They ran for almost 250 yards against the “toughest run defense” in the country, the Gator D shut the Noles offense down and by the fourth quarter, FSU was a beaten team. Man I LOVE beating the Noles.
Florida coach Will Muschamp doesn’t have any doubt where his team’s next stop should be: Miami for the BCS Championship Game on Jan. 7.
And the Gators (No. 4 BCS, No. 6 AP) made a strong case for consideration Saturday by crushing archrival Florida State.
Mike Gillislee ran for two touchdowns and Florida scored 24 straight points in a span of less than nine minutes in the fourth quarter to keep its national title hopes alive with a convincing win over the 10th-ranked Seminoles.
“We have a really tough football team,” Muschamp said as he left the field for Florida’s locker room. “We should be playing for the national championship.”
Of course Notre Dame found another willing victim in USC Saturday night, so it will likely be Alabama destroying the Irish in the BCS title game. I do give Notre Dame credit for being a tough team, but honestly, they should have lost at least three games this year. The Irish seem to have a knack for getting their opponents to play their worst against them. Call it luck, call it winning ugly, that will not work against Bama, or Georgia should they win the SEC title game, and yep, it would not have cut it against the Gators either. The real kick in the head is that next season, the top four teams get a shot. Oh well, we should have beaten Georgia, so, we cannot really bitch I guess!
