EPA Continues To Implement Global Warming Plan Supreme Court Said It Couldn’t – Daily Caller

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials are moving ahead with a key part of the Clean Power Plan (CPP) despite the Supreme Court issuing a stay against the agency’s global warming plan in February.

The EPA submitted a proposal to the White House for green energy subsidies for states that meet the federally mandated carbon dioxide reduction goals early. The Clean Energy Incentive Program would give “credit for power generated by new wind and solar projects in 2020 and 2021” and a “double credit for energy efficiency measures in low-income communities,” according to Politico’s Morning Energy.

Te move seems to violate the Supreme Court’s stay against CPP preventing the EPA from implementing its plan to cut carbon dioxide emissions from U.S. power plants. EPA, however, argues it’s doing this for states that want to voluntarily cut emissions – despite this being part of CPP…

U.S. Plots With United Nations To Expand Syrian Refugees From 10,000 To 200,000 – Washington Examiner

In a move around the standard refugee settlement process in America, the United Nations and the administration are scheming to find other ways to boost the number of Syrians entering the country, from 10,000 this year to possibly 200,000.

U.S. officials, meeting with United Nations human rights officials in Geneva, joined in a project that looks to “alternative safe pathways” to setting Syrian refugees in America and Europe that include pushing colleges and universities to offer tuition programs and encouraging Syrians already in the country to open their homes to those who’ve fled the war-torn Middle East nation.

The plan already has one victory. Last week, the University of Southern California revealed that it is offering five free tuition programs for Syrian refugees, including one in the school’s journalism program…

.

.
Red Tape: Economists scratch their heads when asked to explain the economy’s tepid growth over the past several years. A new study gives a possible answer: the growing, cumulative burden of federal regulations.

Under President Obama, annual GDP growth never once even hit 3%. Under Bush before him, there were only two years when growth topped 3%. But in the two decades before that, annual GDP growth was above 3% in all but six years…

Austria’s Heir Apparent: Only 20% Of Migrants Are ‘Real Refugees’ – Breitbart

The presidential frontrunner in Austrian elections said Tuesday that border controls at the Brenner Pass between Italy and Austria are “inevitable,” while also remarking that only one in five migrants entering Austria is a “real refugee.”

In the first round of Austria’s presidential vote Sunday, Norbert Hofer (pictured) of the rightwing Freedom party (FPÖ) beat the other candidates by a landslide, making Hofer the likely winner of a run-off ballot to be held against Green party’s Alexander Van der Bellen on May 22.

If elected, Hofer faces an escalating migrant crisis whose current epicenter is the fabled Brenner Pass through the Alps. While the role of president is largely ceremonial in Austria, Hofer has intimated that he would exercise a right to dissolve parliament before the 2018 elections…

Percentage Of Americans Who Identify As ‘Environmentalists’ Down 36 Points Since 1991 – CNS

A Gallup poll released on Friday shows that the number of Americans who identify as environmentalists has dropped 36 points, from 78 percent in 1991 to 42 percent in 2016. There has also been a decline in Americans expressing concern about environmental problems, such as pollution.

The Earth Day poll is conducted annually by Gallup. The polling firm cites the politicization of environmental issues as one possible reason for the decline, highlighting the growing partisan gap in those who identify as environmentalists.

A large percentage of Americans (Republicans and Democrats) – 78 percent – considered themselves environmentalists in 1991. That number today is 42 percent…

Obama Admin Accused Of Misleading Congress On Cash Release To Iran – Washington Free Beacon
.

.
The Obama administration faces accusations it has been misleading Congress about the amount and destination of sanctions relief being provided to Iran as part of last summer’s nuclear agreement, according to lawmakers and congressional sources who expressed anger at the administration over a range of contradictory facts being offered about the payouts.

Secretary of State John Kerry came under scrutiny last week after saying in a statement that Iran has received only about $3 billion in sanctions relief to date – a figure far smaller than the $100 billion estimate administration officials had previously said Iran would receive under the deal…

Colorado County GOP Chair: Errors With Ted Cruz’s Delegate Win, Might Need Do-Over – Breitbart

The chairwoman of the Boulder County GOP has admitted that grave errors affected the Colorado Republican caucus, in which Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) won a clean sweep of 34 delegates without opening up the process to voting by everyday citizens.

Breitbart News has obtained an email that Boulder County GOP chairwoman Peg Cage sent to other top Republican officials in Colorado, including to other party chairs, describing the errors in the process that led to “the perception of fraud.” Reached for comment on the email, Cage said that the caucus might have to be done over.

Since Breitbart News’s original report on massive voting problems at the caucus – including names of candidates being left off ballots and at least one woman not being able to vote – insiders have come forward to tell this reporter about other alleged inconsistencies, including a screw-up in the Pueblo and Mesa counties that led to one county having twenty more ballots and another twenty less. Trump supporters even protested the results of the caucus on the steps of the Colorado State Capitol…

The Federal Speech Police Are At it Again – American Interest

In a 2013, the Office for Civil Rights in Education – a federal agency formally charged with protecting students from unlawful harassment, but which appears to have effectively gone rogue under new, far-left leadership over the last five years – declared that universities needed to investigate and possibly punish students for making comments that other students find “unwelcome,” even if those comments were protected by the First Amendment.

The OCR’s “blueprint” sparked outrage among civil liberties groups, and among some lawmakers, including Senator John McCain, who charged that the organization was exceeding its statutory authority by compelling universities to regulate speech on their campuses. The backlash was sufficiently intense that, after several months, the OCR backed off…

Meet Hillary Clinton’s Worse Surrogate Ever – Daily Caller

Being a successful surrogate for a presidential candidate means knowing the resume of the individual you are campaigning for and to not go off-script.

One would think Hillary Clinton’s resume is fairly well-known, but for Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware, he apparently didn’t read the talking points and claimed that Clinton served in the House of Representatives.

While campaigning for Clinton on Monday, Carper said, “Hillary Clinton was right there in the middle of it all. I saw her. I saw her as a governor, as chairman of the National Governor’s Association, she was terrific.”

Carper was governor of Delaware from 1993 to 2001, and was chairman of the NGA from 1998 to 1999…
