Austria Warns It Will Leave EU If Turkey Wins Controversial Brussels Bid – Sunday Express

Austria will turn its back on the crumbling European Union if Turkey is successful in its controversial bid for membership, the country’s anti-immigration party leader has vowed.

Far-right party leader Norbert Hofer said Turkey joining the bloc could be the game changer that forces Austrians to call for an EU referendum in a bid to break away.

He said: “I believe that people are able to learn, that political structures are able to develop, and that Austria will contribute to making Europe better.

“There is one exception, however, that is if the EU decides to let Turkey join the Union. Austrians will have to be asked whether they want this.”

His remarks come amid fresh discussions between Turkey and EU bigwigs after Ankara demanded an acceleration on its application in return for taking back migrants seeking asylum in Europe.

The European powerhouse and Turkey have been locked in a high-stakes standoff over Ankara’s refusal to reform its strict terror laws in return for visa-free travel and £2.5billion to clamp down on the migrant crisis.

But keen to jump on the Brexit result in talks earlier this week, EU minister Omer Celik argued that the bloc needs his country more than ever after Britain voted to pull out in last week’s historic referendum…

June Gun Sales Crush Previous Record – Washington Free Beacon
.

.
June 2016 saw the most FBI gun background checks of any June since the current system went into effect.

The agency reported on Sunday that it processed more than 2.1 million gun related checks in June, an increase of more than 600,000 over the previous record set last year. That makes June the 14th month in a row to see a new background check record, including every month of 2016. This year is on pace to break 2015’s record for most checks in a year.

Last month’s numbers are still lower than the first four months of the year, which tracks with standard seasonal lulls in sales for the industry. However, June’s numbers are higher than May’s – a departure from previous years when June had traditionally seen the fewest checks of any month…

Johnny Manziel Courted By Arena Football League… We Can Help You – TMZ

Johnny Manziel might be playing pro football in 2016 after all – because the Arena Football League wants him… and believes they can truly help him get back to the NFL.

We spoke to AFL commish Scott Butera who says the league is ready and willing provide Manziel with whatever support he needs to aid in his football comeback.

Plus, Butera says… if Johnny’s serious about recommitting to football, the AFL would be the perfect place to rehone his skills and prove to NFL teams he can still play at a high level.

“We could provide a strong platform for him to demonstrate that he is back,” Butera says.

“We would also work with him and provide him whatever help he needed to live a healthy life.”

FYI, several players have gone from the AFL to the NFL… including Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner.

We’ve reached out to Johnny to gauge his interest – so far, no word back…

Man Loses Foot After Stepping On Explosive In Central Park – New York Post

A tourist had his left foot blown off in Central Park after stepping on something that exploded, possibly a firework, police sources said.

Connor Golden, 18, was climbing on some rocks near east 60th Street and Fifth Avenue with his two buddies – Thomas Hinds, 20, and Joseph Stabile, 18 – when he stepped on the object at around 11 a.m., the sources said.

Witnesses said the explosion could be heard outside the nearby funeral of Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel.

The NYPD called in the bomb squad to confirm whether it was a firecracker that caused the blast or another explosive device.

Authorities are questioning Hinds and Stabile at the Central Park Precinct, sources said.

Sources said Golden was transported to Bellevue Hospital with a severed left foot.

One of his pals told The Post that they were in town visiting from Fairfax, Va., for the Fourth of July.

“He’s our friend. We really don’t know what happened,” the buddy said, refusing to be named.

In a Facebook post written July 1, Hinds describes “feeling pumped” about spending time in the Big Apple…

Senator Admits The FBI Is “About To Ask Putin For His Copies Of Hillary’s Emails” – Zero Hedge
.

.
It is well known that the FBI still does not have roughly 30,000 emails that Hillary Clinton deleted from her private server due to Clinton categorizing them as personal and not work related. We have also reported that Russia may be in possession of those emails, and according to Judge Andrew Napolitano, there is a debate going on in the Kremlin about whether or not to release them.

Given that the FBI still doesn’t have the emails, Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton (of the US is “under-incarcerated” fame), who is a Trump supporter and also serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee, has become so frustrated that Cotton suggests the FBI is about to ask Putin for his copies.

Cotton also took a jab at Bill Clinton’s meeting with Loretta Lynch, saying that his plane was also on the tarmac, and he thought Bill Clinton may be waiting to climb on board to talk with him as well…

ISIS Bombing Kills 125 Ramadan Shoppers In Baghdad – BBC

At least 125 people have been killed and about 150 injured in an explosion claimed by the so-called Islamic State group in Baghdad, Iraqi police say.

A car bomb exploded on a busy street in the Karrada district late on Saturday.

The mainly Shia area was busy with shoppers late at night because it is the holy month of Ramadan.

Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi was met by angry crowds while visiting the scene on Sunday. He later declared three days of national mourning.

A second bomb also exploded at about midnight in a predominantly Shia area north of the capital, killing another five people.

The bombing in Karrada is the deadliest in Iraq this year and comes a week after Iraqi security forces recaptured the city of Falluja from Islamic State (IS) militants.

Police said the dead included at least 15 children and six policemen. At least 12 other people were missing, feared dead.

One senior Iraqi official warned that the death toll could rise still further.

The US said on Sunday that the latest attack strengthened its resolve to support Iraqi forces in their fight against IS…

U.S. Accepts Record Number Of Syrian Refugees In June Despite Terrorist Screening Worries – Washington Times
.

.
The U.S. accepted more than 2,300 Syrian refugees in June alone, sending the fiscal year total soaring past the 5,000 mark and putting the government on track to surpass President Obama’s goal of 10,000 by the end of September, but raising questions about screening out potential terrorists.

June’s numbers set a monthly record for the Homeland Security and State departments, which committed resources received earlier this year to streamline the process – in what critics say amounted to corner-cutting – to get back on track toward Mr. Obama’s political goal.

“I believe we will make the 10,000,” Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson testified to Congress on Thursday, assuaging fears of some Democrats that the administration was going to fall short.

Of those accepted in June, more than 99 percent are Sunni Muslims…

National Debt Jumps Nearly $100 Billion In One Day To Record High – Washington Examiner

The U.S. national debt is creeping up again, after holding steady for the last few months thanks to the annual flood of individual and corporate tax receipts.

Total government debt hit a record $19.38 trillion on Thursday, up nearly $98 billion from the day before. It’s the first time it has ever exceeded $19.3 trillion.

The debt will soar higher still in the coming months, and is expected to approach $20 trillion by the time President Obama leaves office.

The total debt had been essentially flat since March, when it hit $19.2 trillion. Growth in the national debt often slows or plateaus in the spring and early summer, as tax receipts in April help balance out federal spending that’s on a current pace to exceed receipts by $500 billion.

The federal government collected a record high $1.48 trillion in tax revenues in the first half of the year, which helped offset growth in the deficit over the last few months.

Total public debt on Thursday was $13.93 trillion, and government loans to itself are $5.45 trillion.

Aside from tax receipts or lower spending, another way to reduce the national debt is through gifts to the Treasury Department…

‘Fact Checker’ Lies About Trump’s Latest Claim, But Here Are The Facts – Mad World News

Donald Trump’s statements are always being fact checked, but now, one famous fact checker is in the hot seat. Politifact said Trump lied on an issue that is extremely important – crime in America. US Citizens want to know the facts about criminal activity in our country, and you’ll be shocked at the lies being told, all in an effort to make Trump look bad and the Democrats in charge look good.

Politifact is a fact-checking organization that has won the Pulitzer prize, but now they are learning the hard way that it is best not to lie because someone could fact check you. After Donald Trump made the statement that “crime is rising,” they took on the task of seeing if his statement was true.

They said his comment was not true and gave him the worst rating of “pants on fire” over his statement. Now, the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) has come out with the truth, calling out Politifact as the liars with pants on fire. From the AEI website:

But there is a big problem with their conclusion: Politifact just stopped looking at data in 2014. They cite the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) database, which to date has only published final figures through 2014. Preliminary figures for 2015 are public but curiously the fact-checker doesn’t cite them – although the data were available in January 2016, well before the post was published.

The FBI’s preliminary 2015 figures actually do show crime rising in most categories across the country between 2014 and 2015. Violent crime (i.e. murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault) is up. For example, the murder rate rose 6.2% in 2015, while rape rose 9.6%.

So, we can speculate why Politifact chose to ignore the most recent data. Obviously, they are backed by liberals who hate Trump and want to ensure he is not elected as our next president, but there’s another shocking tidbit…

Another Mass Shooting At Club, But Look Why Media’s Refusing To Report It – Conservative Tribune

The mass shooting terrorist attack in Orlando has been discussed endlessly by the liberal media for weeks now, but you probably didn’t hear about another mass shooting that occurred this past weekend in South Carolina.

Why didn’t you hear about it? Well, because it was promptly stopped by a concealed carrier who used his gun to take out the bad guy before he could kill anybody.

According to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in Lyman, South Carolina. Jody Ray Thompson, a 32-year-old Lyman resident, allegedly got into a verbal confrontation with another man outside the Playoffz nightclub at about 3:30.

Thompson quickly decided to escalate the verbal altercation, firing at random into the crowd and hitting three people. One of the men who was shot at, however, had a concealed carry license. He fired back at Thompson, wounding him in the leg and stopping his rampage.

Thompson has been charged with four counts of attempted murder; the man who returned his fire will not be charged, according to police, as he was acting in self-defense.

Of the three people who were hit, only one was seriously injured – Renada Shantrice Irby, 34, who had one of the bullets lodged in her pelvis…

Cohen said she tried to tell agents with the Transportation Security Administration that her 19-year-old daughter is partially deaf, blind in one eye, paralyzed and easily confused – but she said police kept her away from the security agents…

Taiwan Accidentally Fires Killer Anti-Ship Missile Toward China – Forbes

The timing for Taiwan could not have been worse. On Friday, the island country accidentally fired a missile into the Taiwan Strait from a naval base in Kaohsiung, in southern Taiwan.

Reports said that a Taiwan warship mistakenly launched a supersonic “killer anti-ship” missile toward China. The missile hit a fishing boat, killing the boat’s captain. In response, China, who was celebrating the Chinese Communist Party’s 95th birthday, called it “a serious matter.”

“The Taiwanese side must explain to us what was going on in a responsible matter,” said the mainland’s Taiwan affairs chief, Zhang Zhijun. The Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post said that the incident further strained “already tense ties with the mainland.”

Taiwan quickly apologized for the mistake. “The Ministry of National Defense sincerely apologizes for the incident that caused the death of the captain (of the boat) and injured other crew members,” Maj. Gen. Chen Chung-Chi said in a news conference.

The missile, however, did not pass the mid-course line of the Taiwan Strait, which meant that it was not aimed at Fujian, China, located less than 200 miles from Taiwan. However, complicating matters, the missile, the Hsiung Fen III, has a range of 300 kilometers, and was developed to counter threats from mainland China.

Just a few days earlier, Taiwan said on Monday that it planned to test fire its newest anti-ship missile for the first time in early July at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Reports said that the test will be conducted in the U.S. to avoid China collecting sensitive information about the weapon…

Bret Baier: FBI Agents Are ‘Livid’ About Private Clinton/Lynch Meeting – Mediaite

Fox News’ Bret Baier reported Friday, citing a “well-placed source in the FBI,” that FBI agents are “livid” about the private meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former president Bill Clinton.

“Not just because of the optics and the bad appearance,” Baier explained, “but also because Bill Clinton is a potential target, a potential witness intricately involved in the second part of the investigation, and that is the corruption investigation into the possible mishandling, misdealings with the Clinton Foundation.”

The FBI agents, he said, were not placated by Lynch’s explanation that they only talked about grandchildren and personal matters. “You don’t have to be talking about the substance of the investigations to have influence on somebody who is going to make a decision about the end result. It’s like working the refs, and lawyers know this.”

Baier also pointed out this wasn’t the first time FBI agents went to the press to complain about the handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton‘s emails. “Remember back in October, the president said there was not going to be any national security implications in this email investigation in an interview, and the FBI was very upset about that at the time as well,” he said.

Former Clinton Labor Secretary Warns Against July 4th ‘Americanism’ – Daily Caller
.

.
Former Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration and current University of California Berkeley professor Robert Reich wants Americans to be vigilant this July 4 against “exclusive patriotism” that “asserts a unique and superior ‘Americanism.’”

“We hear a lot about patriotism, especially around the Fourth of July. But in 2016, we’re hearing about two very different types of patriotism. One is an inclusive patriotism that binds us together. The other is an exclusive patriotism that keeps others out,” Reich writes.

Reich claims that “we’re now hearing a strident, exclusive patriotism. It asserts a unique and superior ‘Americanism that’s determined to exclude others beyond our borders.”…
