Dean Hutton is a South African artist whose most notorious project involves walking around in a custom-printed black and white suit and absorbing the responses from strangers.
And what does
he, she, whatever the Hell it is wear to absorb responses? WARNING, eye bleach might be required
Hey, I warned you it was not going to be pretty didn’t I? Anyway, Dean Hutton is clearly Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs
Hutton first wore the Fuck White People suit at Gay Pride:
It was a test for me. If I can do it in a community in which I have almost de facto access to, can I do it in other spaces, where I don’t necessarily have de facto access except for the colour of my skin? You know, like, if I can’t do it at Gay Pride, then I can’t be making a whole fucking suit that says that. And, it’s still mostly an experiment, but it feels like it’s something I can do, and the reactions I am getting from it says that it is something that I should be doing.
Yes, Dean is deeply deluded, a classic example of what I am diagnosing as Identity Obsession Disorder. Dean is so wrapped up in his “identity” that he has lost his grip on reality. It is sad to see, it really is, and it is a growing trend with leftists. This is what happens when people are told that everything they are, and everything they experience is completely dependent on their “identity”. That identity can be gender, or race, or their sexual preferences. The idea is to so focus the individual on their identity that they lose all sense of individualism, sacrificing who they are in favor of becoming a member of a group. And, those that reject groupthink are savaged by the Left as “not genuine”. Women cannot really be women unless they completely embrace Leftism. Blacks who dare to be Conservatives are ostracized as sell outs or Uncle Toms. Again, you are must be a member of your “group”and reject individualism or you must face the consequences. Thinking for oneself, is simply not allowed.
The Left hates Individualism, it is the polar opposite of the Collectivism that defines the Left. When people think as individuals, rather than a member of an “identity” they tend to move away from Leftism. This cannot be tolerated if Leftism is to succeed in its aim for a utopian society where all rights are non-existent without the direct approval of the State. That same State, of course may restrict, or forbid the exercise of any “right” or liberty based on the pursuit of the common good. A common good, of course, defined by the State.
Over the years, I have come to see that everything the Left does is designed to erode, and eventually eradicate Individualism. Groupthink and identity Obsession Syndrome plays into that. There is the indoctrination that takes place in our schools, and through much of the media. There is the incredible peer pressure that urges conformity, and threatens dissent. Why do so many stay silent? Fear of some sort of reprisal from the Collectivists. Do you want your college professor to give you a better grade? Then shut up! Do you want to make it in Hollywood? Then shut up! Do you want to get that promotion, or keep your job in the media? Then shut up! Or, better yet, say what the Collectivists want to hear. After all, you don’t want to betray your race/gender/sexual orientation/religion do you?
Poor bastards like Dean Hutton are not the problem, they are symptoms, and in many cases the victims of the evil intentions of the Collectivists
