Trump Wins Again: Lockheed Martin CEO Commits To Driving Down F-35 Fighter’s Costs – Reuters
.

.
Lockheed Martin Corp said its Chief Executive Marillyn Hewson gave U.S. President-elect Donald Trump a personal commitment to bring down the price of its F-35 fighter jet, after he heaped pressure on the aerospace company over the cost.

Lockheed’s shares fell on Friday after Trump’s message on Twitter, and after he earlier tweeted that he had asked rival Boeing Co to “price-out” an older aircraft as an alternative.

Hewson said in a statement tweeted by Lockheed that the company would “aggressively” drive down the cost of the F-35, which brought in about 20 percent of Lockheed’s sales last year.

Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Lockheed shares ended down nearly 1.3 percent in Friday trading on the New York Stock Exchange…

Nigerian President: Boko Haram Ousted From Last Remaining Stronghold In The Sambisa Forest – Daily Telegraph

The Nigerian army has defeated Boko Haram in the Sambisa forest, one of the jihadists’ last remaining strongholds, President Muhammadu Buhari said Saturday.

A campaign lasting for months in the 1,300 square-kilometre forest in northeastern Borno state led to the “final crushing of Boko Haram terrorists in their last enclave in Sambisa Forest” on Friday, Buhari said in a statement.

He congratulated his troops for “finally entering and crushing the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents at ‘Camp Zero’, which is located deep within the heart of Sambisa Forest”.

“The terrorists are on the run, and no longer have a place to hide. I urge you to maintain the tempo by pursuing them and bringing them to justice,” he said.

The statement made no mention of the whereabouts of Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the Boko Haram faction based in the forest.

The military has said in the last few days that Boko Haram fighters are running away from the forest into surrounding areas and people have been told to be vigilant.

Boko Haram has killed more than 15,000 people, displaced over two million and kidnapped hundreds of men, women and children during a seven-year insurgency aimed at creating an Islamic state.

The news came after a group of 21 Chibok schoolgirls freed by Boko Haram militants in October after two-and-a-half years in captivity in northeastern Nigeria were celebrating a “miracle” on Friday as the girls prepared to return to their families for Christmas…

Julian Assange Finally Gets His Internet Restored – Real Strategy
.

.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange confirmed Friday that his internet access at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London has been restored.

Speaking with Repubblica.it, Assange revealed new details on his current situation as well as the state of WikiLeaks.

“The internet has been returned,” Assange said.

Assange’s internet was “intentionally severed” on October 17 by the Ecuadorian government amid the publication of thousands of emails from Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta.

WikiLeaks accused US Secretary of State John Kerry of pressuring Ecuador to derail their publishing schedule during September’s FARC peace negotiations in Colombia.

The Ecuadorian government confirmed the following day that it had cut Assange’s internet over fears it would be seen as aiding WikiLeaks’ influence on the US election…

Obama Gives Parting Middle Finger To Israel With Anti-Settlement UN Resolution – Breitbart

President Barack Obama set the tone for his future attitude toward Israel during his infamous June 4, 2009, speech at Cairo University, where he claimed the Palestinians suffer “daily humiliations – large and small – that come with occupation,” and referred to Palestinian terrorism as “resistance through violence and killing.”

Obama would go on to warm to the anti-Israel, anti-Western Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt; repeatedly single out Israeli settlement activity for criticism; and ink a nuclear deal with Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, an agreement that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to as a threat to Israel’s security.

On Friday, as Israelis marked the Sabbath here in the Jewish state, Obama stuck it to Israel, perhaps one final time, when the U.S. abstained from voting on a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a halt to Israeli construction in the West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem, thereby allowing the measure to pass.

The move was a dramatic departure from the longstanding U.S. policy of vetoing anti-Israel resolutions.

And make no mistake about it. This was an anti-Israel resolution.

The text of the resolution repeatedly and wrongly refers to the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem as “Palestinian territory occupied since 1967.” This fraudulent language technically places the Western Wall and Temple Mount plaza under the “Palestinian territory” qualification.

In actuality, the Palestinians never had a state in either the West Bank or eastern Jerusalem, and they are not legally recognized as the undisputed authority in those areas…

German Politician Faces Calls To Resign After Preventing Cops From Sharing Image Of Berlin Truck Terrorist – Daily Mail
.

.
A German politician is facing calls to resign over allegations that he prevented police from sharing pictures of the Berlin truck terrorist when he was at large.

Reports in Germany claim that Till Steffen prevented law enforcers in Hamburg from releasing pictures of Anis Amri, despite him being the most wanted man in the world after Monday’s terror attack.

Amri, 24, was named as a suspect on Wednesday after his wallet was found in the lorry which ploughed into a crowd of people at a Berlin Christmas market, killing 12 people.

It has been alleged that Steffen, who is head of the judicial authority in Hamburg, prevented the pictures being circulated because he feared sharing images of Islamist terror suspects will incite racial hatred…

Wealthy De Blasio Crony Caught Getting Food Stamps Illegally – Daily Caller

A religious leader and big-time fundraiser for Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has been charged with welfare fraud for getting around $30,000 in food stamps.

Yitzchok “Isaac” Sofer, a Hasidic religious leader, hosted a fundraiser for de Blasio’s 2013 mayoral campaign at the same time he was receiving food stamps illegally.

During an FBI investigation, agents found that Sofer has been on food stamps since the beginning of 2010, and received more than $30,000 in benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) since 2012, according to court documents unsealed Thursday.

On his food stamp application in 2012, Sofer claimed to make $250 a week, or about $13,000 a year, and that he had no life insurance policy. Investigators discovered, however, that Sofer did have a life insurance policy worth $1 million, and on that application he claimed to make way more than $250 dollars a week.

Sofer got the policy in 2012, however, he listed his income for 2011 at $100,000, and assets at more than $600,000, according to the criminal complaint.

Sofer still has ties with de Blasio’s office, and is listed as a government relations lobbyist for the Central United Talmudic Academy, a religious school group. The academy lobbied City Hall as recently as 2015, New York Daily News reports.

Sofer was released on $250,000 bail after being arraigned Thursday, according to the New York Post…

.

.
Russian President Vladimir Putin asked to “restore the framework of bilateral cooperation” with the U.S. in a letter to President-elect Donald Trump earlier this month – which the transition team released Friday.

The letter offers Christmas and New Year’s wishes, then Mr. Putin suggests the two nations find a way to get beyond the loggerheads of the last few years.

“I hope that after you assume the position of the President of the United States of America we will be able – by acting in a constructive and pragmatic manner – to take real steps to restore the framework of bilateral cooperation in different areas as well as bring our level of collaboration on the international scene to a qualitatively new level,” Mr. Putin said.

Mr. Trump, in a statement, called it “a very nice letter” and said “his thoughts are so correct.”…

Texas To Cut Planned Parenthood From Medicaid – The Hill

Planned Parenthood will no longer receive funding from Texas’s Medicaid program, state health officials announced Tuesday.

Officials delivered a final legal notice to Planned Parenthood, The Texas Tribune reported, and the change will take effect in 30 days unless the organization files an appeal with the state.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and state health officials first moved to cut Medicaid funding last year when controversial undercover videos of Planned Parenthood officials surfaced.

Anti-abortion groups claimed the videos prove the organization is “harvesting” fetal tissue, but the videos were proved to be highly edited, and Planned Parenthood fully denied the allegations.

Texas’s Planned Parenthood affiliates use Medicaid funding for family planning and women’s health services – separate from its abortion services, which don’t receive public funds.

The battle will likely move to federal court.

Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit a year ago to try to block Texas from stripping the organization of Medicaid funding, but that suit has sat idle as the organization waited for the state to deliver its final legal notice, the Tribune notes.

The Obama administration has repeatedly warned Texas and other states that stripping Medicaid funding from Planned Parenthood affiliates could violate federal law.

According to the Tribune, Planned Parenthood serves about 12,000 low-income women in the state and previously received more than $3 million in Medicaid funding…

What Are They Afraid Of? – Jeffrey Folks
.

.
Now that Donald Trump has been elected, hope is gone. That’s more or less what Michelle Obama told Oprah Winfrey in a recent interview. “We are feeling what not having hope feels like,” she said.

There are millions of liberals feeling hopeless these days. The left’s fear of a Trump administration is like nothing seen since the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980, which reversed 50 years of liberal politics. Not only are they bawling in public, threatening to relocate to Canada, and cuddling up with therapy dogs, but they’ve tried every undemocratic trick in the book to deny Trump the election.

Trump obviously threatens something of crucial importance to the left, but what is it? What are they afraid of?

They are afraid of Trump’s policies, of course – and there will be plenty of changes on day one. Most of what Obama “accomplished” by executive order stands to be reversed…

Obama Seeks To Thwart Trump’s Economic Recovery With Last-Minute Ban On Oil Drilling – Gateway Pundit

Barack Obama owns the worst recovery since the Great Depression. He is the first president EVER to not see a single year with 3% GDP growth.

Now that Donald Trump has won, the stock market has set several new records. Thousands of jobs are coming back to America. But on Thursday, Barack Obama through a roadblock up in Donald Trump’s path to get the economy roaring again. He banned oil drilling in the Arctic and off the East Coast.

The Washington Post reported:

President Obama moved to solidify his environmental legacy Tuesday by withdrawing hundreds of millions of acres of federally owned land in the Arctic and Atlantic Ocean from new offshore oil and gas drilling.

Obama used a little-known law called the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to protect large portions of the Chukchi and Beaufort seas in the Arctic and a string of canyons in the Atlantic stretching from Massachusetts to Virginia. In addition to a five-year moratorium already in place in the Atlantic, removing the canyons from drilling puts much of the eastern seaboard off limits to oil exploration even if companies develop plans to operate around them.

The announcement by the White House late in the afternoon was coordinated with similar steps being taken by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to shield large areas of that nation’s Arctic waters from drilling. Neither measure affects leases already held by oil and gas companies and drilling activity in state waters…

U.S. History No Longer A Requirement For History Majors At George Washington University – College Fix

George Washington University recently changed its requirements for history majors, removing previously key courses for the stated purpose of giving students more flexibility.

The department eliminated requirements in U.S., North American and European history, as well as the foreign language requirement. Thus, it is possible that a student can major in history at GWU without taking a survey course on United States history.

The new requirements mandate at least one introductory course, of which American history, World History and European civilization are options. Yet, like at many elite universities, the introductory course requirement may be fulfilled by scoring a 4 or a 5 on the Advanced Placement exams for either U.S. History AP, European History AP or World History AP.

Earlier this year, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni released a report revealing that fewer than one-third of the nation’s leading universities require history majors to take a single course in U.S. history. George Washington University now joins those ranks.

“A democratic republic cannot thrive without well-informed citizens and leaders. Elite colleges and universities in particular let the nation down when the examples they set devalue the study of United States history,” ACTA President Dr. Michael Poliakoff said in a statement announcing the report.

Some scholars dismissed the report’s findings, however, arguing that most students enroll in U.S. history classes regardless of whether it’s required, so handwringing over the lack of the requirement is moot…
