Report: Leftist Minimum Wage Hikes Will Lead To 1.8 Million Job Losses – Washington Free Beacon

Minimum wage increases over the next several years will result in 1.8 million job losses, according to a report from the American Action Forum.

By July of this year, 22 states and the District of Columbia will have implemented minimum wage increases. In just 2017 alone, wage increases will lead to 383,000 job losses.

While the goal of increasing the minimum wage is to increase earnings for low-income individuals, the report finds that the additional earnings transferred from the job losers to the job keepers is minimal. For example, minimum wage hikes are projected to increase earnings by only $6,900, which would be split among all employees affected by the increase.

“While proposals to raise the minimum wage are well intended, it is important to consider the negative labor market consequences,” the report states. “A 10 percent increase in the real minimum wage is associated with a 0.3 to 0.5 percentage-point decline in the net job growth rate.”

“As a result, three years later employment becomes 0.7 percent lower than it would have been absent the minimum wage increase,” the report states.

In just 2017, minimum wage increases will lead to 1,000 eliminated jobs in Vermont to 109,000 job losses in New York…

Tom Brady Orchestrates Greatest Comeback In Super Bowl History As Patriots Beat Falcons 34-28 In Overtime – WBZ
.

.
What better way to claim the “Greatest of All-Time” title than with the greatest Super Bowl comeback of all time?

What was a horrible start turned into an unbelievable end for the New England Patriots, as they won Super Bowl LI 34-28 – the first Super Bowl to go to overtime. They erased deficits of 21-0 and 28-3 against the Atlanta Falcons and their high-powered offense, scoring 31 unanswered points to pull off an incredible comeback.

It’s the fifth Super Bowl win for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Brady completed 43 of his 62 passes for 466 yards and two touchdowns, and is now the first quarterback with five Super Bowl victories.

“I’m so proud of our guys, our coaches, the team. That was unbelievable what we accomplished this season,” Brady said after the victory…

Families Sue NYC For Reporting Them To Child Services When They Homeschool – The Federalist

New York City mother Tanya Acevedo received a home visit from Child Protective Services at 7 p.m. this winter. They were investigating her for “educational neglect” because she had legally withdrawn her child from the public system to homeschool.

After Tanya let them in, a CPS investigator insisted that they interview her child in private, and inspected their apartment, including a look inside Tanya’s refrigerator – standard practice for a home under investigation for “neglect.” The officer left Tanya with stern instructions to produce documents and her child the next day at the CPS office.

Tanya called the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) for help. After many calls navigating the New York Public School District’s bureaucracy – and another visit from CPS – her case was closed. She had followed all the applicable laws to withdraw her son from public schools and begin homeschooling. The school district had not recorded the paperwork she’d filed, so her son began accruing “absences” that eventually triggered the CPS investigation.

“Even though the school knew that Tanya had filed a notice of intent to homeschool, it reported her to CPS for ‘educational neglect’ because its policy required it to do so after so many ‘absences’ had accrued,” writes Jim Mason, HSLDA’s vice president of litigation…

Juan Lopez was deported to Mexico in 2009 after serving a prison sentence for a 1987 homicide. Lopez, 46, returned to the U.S. and was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Austin, Texas on Thursday for sexual assault.

Lopez allegedly raped a woman in a car while her toddler was in the back seat, KXAN Austin reported Friday.

According to the affidavit, Lopez asked a woman he knew to drop him off at an unknown location nearly three weeks ago. Lopez allegedly threatened the woman’s life if she didn’t have sex with him, and when she said that her toddler was in the car, he replied, “I don’t give a damn.”…

Non-Russian Democrats Suspected Of Accessing House Intelligence Committee Computers – Independent Sentinel

In light of last year’s email hacks, this is very interesting. Three brothers were relieved of their IT duties for possibly accessing congressional computers, including Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s computer network. Abid, Imran and Jamal Awan have worked for dozens of departments in the House of Representatives.

Do you feel safe? Our security services look like buffoons if this is true.

The brothers who managed information technology for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and other lawmakers might have accessed congressional computers without permission.

Brothers Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

The committees that employed these brothers deal with many of the nation’s most sensitive issues, information and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.

Also among those whose computer systems may have been compromised is Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida Democrat who was previously the target of a disastrous email hack when she served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 campaign…

Seattle Judge Wrong, Overreached With Nationwide Injunction On Travel Ban – Robert Barnes

Two different courts, on opposite coasts, ruled in opposite directions on Friday. A Boston federal court affirmed Trump’s executive order as “bona fide”; a Seattle federal court enjoined it. Both spoke to requests for “nationally” effective rulings. Can federal courts give conflicting directions to government employees? Did Homeland predict this in their screenplays?

The Seattle decision overstepped the traditional boundaries of district court authority, especially when sister courts are ruling on the same issues. Both the Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit warned against issuing a national order in just these kind of cases.

Unlike state courts, federal courts enjoy the possibility of national reach in their decision. Due to the risk of conflicting decisions within the courts, venue-shopping by litigants (note how the ACLU, CAIR and the Attorney Generals aren’t suing in any Trump states), and the interference with the executive branch of government in their daily duties, the Supreme Court established precedents – precedents being what constitutes “evidence” for lawyers about what the law says – to limit this problem from occurring.

First, the Supreme Court warned against issuing any relief not individually and specifically necessary to the plaintiffs before the court. Califano v. Yamasaki, 442 U.S. 682, 702 (1979)…

A San Antonio man who was freed from life in prison by President Barack Obama is back behind bars after allegedly crashing his vehicle into another motorist and undercover police cars while fleeing from a drug deal Thursday.

Robert M. Gill, 68, whose life sentence for cocaine and heroin distribution conspiracy was commuted by Obama and expired in 2015, was profiled last year in the Express-News about his readjustment to life on the outside.

Jailed from the time of his arrest in 1990, Gill earned a legal education inside prison libraries and successfully petitioned the then-president for a second chance after his court appeals were exhausted…

Fake Hate Crime: Wisconsin College Student Put Anti-Muslim Graffiti On Own Door – Breitbart

A student at a Wisconsin college was arrested for defacing his own dorm room door with anti-Muslim graffiti in order to get attention, according to police.

Officials at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, were shocked when a student, 20-year-old Michael Kee, reported that anti-Muslim threats appeared on his door and on a wall outside his dorm room. The student told police he felt he was being threatened over his religion and ethnicity.

Police initially treated the incident as a hate crime, but after an investigation they determined that the student had perpetrated a fraud and painted the graffiti himself, according to WQRF.

Officials now say the student was affected by the outpouring of support a Jewish student recently received when he was a victim of a threatening note pushed under his door. Police said Kee “observed how the Beloit College community had come together after the first reported incident and wanted similar attention.”

The police added that Kee’s fraudulent hate crime would only served to “de-legitimize” victims of real hate crimes…

David Horowitz On Left-Wing Fascist Rioters: “Throw Them In Jail Where They Belong” – Frontpage
.

.
Freedom Center founder David Horowitz and Washington Times staff writer Charlie Hurt appeared on Fox News with Lou Dobbs to discuss whether President Trump should defund the University of California, Berkeley over the rioting Wednesday night that prevented Milo Yiannopoulos from delivering a Freedom Center-sponsored speech demanding the end of “sanctuary campuses” that harbor illegal aliens.

Milo’s address, which was canceled amid violent mob attacks, fire-setting, and wanton property destruction, had been scheduled to mark the launch of the Freedom Center’s #nosanctuarycampusforcriminals campaign.

Who is responsible for that rioting? Horowitz, author of the new book Big Agenda: President Trump’s Plan to Save America, points the finger at former Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano, now the President of the UC system, as well as a “seditious” Democratic Party besieging the Trump administration…

Federal Judge Unblocks Trump Travel Ban, Asks “Where Does It Say Muslim Countries?” – Zero Hedge

As we detailed earlier, in a blow to every mainstream media news outlet (and likely hurting a lot of feelings), President Donald Trump’s ban on immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries will take effect in Boston on Sunday after a federal judge refused to extend a temporary ruling blocking its enforcement.

As Bloomberg reports, the decision by U.S. District Judge Nathaniel Gorton on Friday dealt a setback to rights advocates who argued that blocking people from seven nations in the Middle East was unconstitutional. Gorton was weighing whether to extend a seven-day order blocking parts of Trump’s Executive Order.

The case, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of several affected immigrants, is one of several that followed Trump’s Jan 27 order, which roiled global travel by barring entry to the U.S. of citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Individuals, organizations, politicians and some states called it unconstitutional religious discrimination against Muslims.

As GMA News Onine reports, U.S. District Judge Nathaniel Gorton on Friday asked Matthew Segal, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) representing the plaintiffs in the Boston case…

Trump is adored and loved by our service man! Also our police and our border control officers are in pure love affair with our new great president! Look what our soldiers from Virginia just did for president Trump!

Steve Thompson was on his way to pick up some feed for his goat farm Sunday morning when he noticed an impressive-looking military convoy and started filming.

When he neared the lead vehicle in the convoy, the 32-year-old Shepherdsville, Ky., man noticed something else: A large blue and white Trump campaign flag.“I just thought it was just a bunch of military vehicles,” Thompson, who was driving near Louisville at the time, told the Lexington Herald Leader…

New Report Exposes 6 Top Republicans On George Soros’ Payroll – UFP

In a report just out, some major Republicans have been caught suckling at the teat of George Soros. The report accessed financial records from the Soros Fund and found that not only was the former Nazi Socialist financing most of the Democrat liberal nut jobs in our government, but that it was also stroking some 13 different Republicans.

A non-profit, non-partisan research group which is based out of Washington D. C. has published a list which looks like a list of Who’s Who in the Republican Party. Of course at the top of the list are some names that you will recognize from recent events. You know the jerks that keep going behind our Presidents back and trying to make him look bad, or are withholding their full support from his programs.

At the top of the list is our old friend the Vietnam War Hero, Sen. John McCain, who seems intent in stabbing his country in the back just like the good old days. Another of the treasonous group is of course, Marco “which way is the wind blowing” Rubio, followed closely by Paul “no tax relief” Ryan, and John “I should have been the nominee” Kasich.

But the Soros list also includes other names which explain a lot, like everyone’s favorite Bush, Jeb. You can also quickly find John Boehner and the ever compromising Lindsey Graham…

Judge Dismisses $4 Million Lawsuit By Leftist Pundit Who Trump Called A ‘Real Dummy’ – Law Newz

The target of a Donald Trump insult attack on Twitter fought back by filing a lawsuit against the President-elect, alleging his tweets damaged her reputation, cost her televisions appearances and subjected her to bullying. The lawsuit, filed last year by Cheri Jacobs, demanded $4 million in damages. If Trump was concerned, perhaps he is breathing a bit easier tonight after the case was dismissed by a Manhattan Judge on Tuesday who wrote that the First Amendment protects Trump’s right to hurl insults on Twitter.

The two tweets at the center of the lawsuit stemmed from an appearance Jacobus made on CNN back in February when she reportedly claimed his campaign was less than transparent about its finances.

Trump seemingly did not care for the remarks, so he unloaded on Jacobus:

Machete-Weilding Muslim Shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ Shot By French Soldier At Louvre – Fox News
.

.
A machete-wielding man shouting “Allahu akbar” three times attacked four French soldiers Friday inside a shopping mall beneath the Louvre Museum in Paris before one soldier shot him, investigators said.

French President Francois Hollande said it was “no doubt” an act of terror. One of the soldiers suffered minor injuries, and the attacker – shot five times in the stomach – was seriously wounded. A military spokesman said the soldiers tried to fight him off before opening fire.

Prosecutor Francois Molins said the attacker came to Paris on a tourist visa on Jan. 26 and bought two military machetes at a gun store in the city two days later…

Australia’s Refugees Are Not America’s Problem – Kyle Sammin

On Wednesday night, the foreign policy world was atwitter over reports of a heated phone call between President Trump and the prime minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, about refugees intercepted while trying to enter Australia. The media ran with the story. Conflict gets clicks, after all. But while news reports focused on the controversy and chaos that came from this dust-up with our antipodean ally, the underlying question is strangely untouched: why should the United States accept refugees from Australia?

Accepting refugees from Syria and Iraq is a more straightforward question, whether you agree with it or not. Someone leaving those countries and arriving here is exiting a war-torn hell hole and entering a paradise.

Even sharing the burden of refugee resettlement makes some sense when you consider that many Near Eastern refugees cannot get themselves to the United States and are packed into teeming camps in nearby Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey. Those countries are poorer than ours and lack the capacity to house millions of newly homeless foreigners. Other states with more money and room (like the Gulf Arab states) might be expected to help out…

NBC’s corporate parent, Comcast, is joining the corporate backlash against President Donald Trump’s popular immigration reform, partly prodded by the company’s Indian-born Chief Technology Officer, Sree Kotay.

The company provided employers at its Philadelphia headquarters time off on Thursday to protest Trump’s popular policy, which is designed to reduce the inflow of costly refugees and to exclude migrants carrying “hostile attitudes.” Company protests were also expected in Washington D.C., New York and California.

Trump’s new policy seeks to exclude people who:

do not support the Constitution, or those who would place violent ideologies over American law…

Trump Imposes New Sanctions On Iran Over Ballistic Missile Test – Bloomberg

Iran carried out further missile tests during an annual military exercise, a day after President Donald Trump imposed fresh sanctions on a raft of individuals and companies in response to the country test-firing a ballistic rocket last week.

The country successfully tested a range of land-to-land missiles and radar systems during the drills in a 35,000 square-kilometer stretch of desert in the northern Iranian province of Semnan, the semi-official Tasnim agency reported Saturday, citing Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ aerospace division.

“If the enemy falls out of line, our missiles will pour down on them,” the brigadier general was cited as telling reporters on the sidelines of the military trials, without referring to any particular nations. Any threats made by the U.S. against Iran were “nonsensical,” Tasnim cited him as saying.

The Treasury Department published a list Friday of 13 individuals and 12 entities facing new restrictions for supporting the missile program, having links to terrorism or providing support for Iran’s hard-line Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The entities include companies based in Tehran, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and China…

President Donald Trump signed executive orders Friday that begin the process of rolling back two major Wall Street regulations: the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and the Department of Labor’s retirement advice rule, also known as the “fiduciary rule.”

The first action orders a thorough review of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act enacted in 2010 under the Obama Administration following the housing crisis of 2007.

Dodd-Frank was originally intended to increase transparency by implementing a consistent set of regulations aimed at closing loopholes and making firms accountable for their own mistakes…

‘Clock Boy’ Gets Clock Cleaned In Free-Speech Victory – WorldNetDaily

There’s more trouble for “Clock Boy,” Ahmed Mohamed, and his father, Mohamed Mohamed.

They apparently will have to pay the attorneys’ fees, court costs and “other expenses” of at least one of the personalities they sued when the youngster brought what looked like a bomb to his public school and was suspended.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro posted a judge’s ruling in the case brought by Mohamed Mohamed against him, the Blaze, Glenn Beck, Center for Security Policy, Jim Hanson, Fox News, Ben Ferguson and others.

“Clock Boy case falls apart like a pencil box filled with clock parts,” Shapiro tweeted in celebration.

The Mohameds sued for “defamation” after their son’s incident became the talk of the nation.

He brought a hoax clock bomb to his Irving, Texas, school in late 2015 and caused a scare. He was arrested and suspended, but then turned the incident around, gaining favors from the famous, including an invitation to the White House from then-President Obama.

WND reported several weeks ago that the judge had dismissed the case against some of the other defendants, but there was no immediate word at that time on sanctions against the Mohameds except that the defendants were requesting them…
