Minimum Wage Massacre: Wendy’s Unleashes 1,000 Robots To Counter Higher Labor Costs – Zero Hedge

In yet another awkwardly rational response to government intervention in deciding what’s “fair”, the blowback from minimum wage demanding fast food workers has struck again. Wendy’s plans to install self-ordering kiosks in 1,000 of its stores – 16% of its locations nationwide.

“Last year was tough – 5 percent wage inflation,” said Bob Wright, Wendy’s chief operating officer, during his presentation to investors and analysts last week. He added that the company expects wages to rise 4 percent in 2017. “But the real question is what are we doing about it?”

Wright noted that over the past two years, Wendy’s has figured out how to eliminate 31 hours of labor per week from its restaurants and is now working to use technology, such as kiosks, to increase efficiency.

Wendy’s chief information officer, David Trimm, said the kiosks are intended to appeal to younger customers and reduce labor costs. Kiosks also allow customers of the fast food giant to circumvent long lines during peak dining hours while increasing kitchen production…

Trump Refuses To Restock The “Unnecessary” Bureaucracy In D.C. – Washington Examiner
.

.
President Trump doesn’t plan to fill many of the hundreds of appointed political jobs in his administration because he thinks they’re unnecessary.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he’s been hit for not filling about 1,200 administration jobs that require Senate confirmation, but people don’t understand that he’s not trying to fill many of those jobs.

“A lot of those jobs, I don’t want to appoint someone because they’re unnecessary to have,” Trump said. “In government, we have too many people.”

Trump offered that up as an example of why he gave himself a C for messaging during his first month in office…

Spain Appoints ‘Sex Tsar’ To Boost Baby Making And Reverse Population Decline – The Local

Spain’s government has created a new post to encourage procreation to counter the nation’s plummeting birth rate.

Edelmira Barreria Diz, a senator in the Galician parliament and a demographic expert, has been tasked with reversing Spain’s population crisis.

Her appointment as head of the commission for demographics by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy comes in a bid to reverse the trend of Spain’s diminishing population. Last year, the country recorded a higher number of deaths than births for the first time since 1941.

The number of childless couples tripled between 1977 and 2015; from from 1.5 million to 4.4 million according to the latest issue of Panorama Social, a report released by Funcas, an association that funds studies into social and economic issues in Spain.

Since 2008, the number of births in Spain has fallen by 18 percent. Spain had one of the lowest fertility rates in the EU in 2014 at an average of 1.32 children, just above Greece, Cyprus, Portugal…

The Senate voted Monday to confirm billionaire investor Wilbur Ross as secretary of commerce in President Trump’s Cabinet.

Ross was approved by a vote of 72-27, with 20 Democrats and Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, joining 51 Republicans to vote “aye.” Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., did not vote due to his ongoing recovery from back surgery.

The Senate later voted 67-31 to move forward on the nomination of Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont., to lead the Interior Department. A final vote on Zinke’s confirmation is expected Wednesday.

Ross is the 14th member of Trump’s Cabinet to be cofirmed, with seven nominees still to be voted on…

Illegal Immigration Dropped 27% In January – Washington Times

Illegal immigration across the southwest border plummeted in January, compared to December, as the flow of both illegal immigrant families and children traveling alone dried up, according to numbers released by Customs and Border Protection on Monday.

The numbers are still high compared to past years – indeed, it’s the worst January in records dating back to 2012.

But total apprehensions of migrants trying to sneak across the border fell 27 percent on a month-to-month basis, to 31,575. And the number of inadmissible migrants who showed up at the southwest’s ports of entry fell 28 percent, to 10,899.

Apprehensions are deemed an indicator of the overall flow: The more people caught, the more are believed to be getting through.

The flow always decreases in the deep months of the winter, before picking up again in the spring. Last year Border Patrol apprehensions dropped 36 percent from December to January.

“Overall total migration remained at elevated levels, primarily due to family units and unaccompanied children from Central America, Haitian nationals migrating from Brazil, and Cuban nationals,” CBP said in releasing the numbers…

It’s almost like The Washington Post is trying to become as in-your-face corrupt and biased as possible and is determined to lose any shred of credibility it may have left.

Last Thursday, the paper announced that John Podesta, the scandal-plagued chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 scandal-plagued presidential campaign, has joined their team:

Podesta, former chairman of the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign, will provide commentary and analysis on the intersection of politics and policy, the Trump administration and the future of the Democratic Party.

“No one knows more about how Washington works, how the White House operates, and how policy ideas are translated into reality than John Podesta,” said Editorial Page Editor Fred Hiatt…

Trump’s DOJ Dropping Obama-Initiated Legal Challenge To Texas Voter ID Law – The Hill

President Trump’s Justice Department is ending the government’s opposition to a controversial voter ID law in Texas, according to a group involved in the case.

Danielle Lang, the Campaign Legal Center’s deputy director of voting rights, told The Associated Press and Talking Points Memo on Monday that the Justice Department informed her group and others suing the state of the government’s change in position.

After six years of legal wrangling, the Justice Department will no longer argue that Texas intentionally sought to discriminate against minorities when it passed the law that mandates voters show certain forms of identification before casting a ballot.

“This signals to voters that they will not be protected under this administration,” Lang told Talking Points Memo.

“We have already had a nine-day trial and presented thousands of pages of documents demonstrating that the picking and choosing of what IDs count was entirely discriminatory and would fall more harshly on minority voters…

Wacky North Korean Dictator Executes 5 Senior Officials With Anti-Aircraft Guns – Townhall

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered the execution of five senior officials from his Ministry of State Security, according to a South Korean intelligence agency.

The executions, carried out with anti-aircraft guns, were punishments for unspecified “false reports” that “enraged” the dictator.

The issue stems from the totalitarian state’s refusal of any wrongdoing in the apparent assassination of Kim Jong Un’s half brother, Kim Jong Nam.

The son of Song Hye-Rim, a South Korean-born actress who is believed to have been a mistress of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, was killed outside the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia earlier this month.

Jong-Nam had been an advocate for change in North Korea, especially after he was banned from the country after an attempt to visit Disney World in 2010.

South Korea labeled the death of Jong Nam “a state terrorist act.”…

Fake Black Woman Rachel Dolezal Is Nearly Homeless, Living On Food Stamps And Still White – Daily Caller

Former NAACP branch president Rachel Dolezal, who lied about being black but still identifies as black, is now jobless, living on food stamps and expects to lose her home next month.

“There’s no protected class for me,” the former NAACP branch president told The Guardian. “I’m this generic, ambiguous scapegoat for white people to call me a race traitor and take out their hostility on. And I’m a target for anger and pain about white people from the black community. It’s like I am the worst of all these worlds.”

Dolezal has applied for over 100 jobs, but has received no offers, even from a supermarket. She has, however, been offered work in porn and reality TV. While a friend helped pay her rent for February, Dolezal expects she’ll lose her home next month.

“I do think a more complex label would be helpful, but we don’t really have that vocabulary,” said the former Africana studies instructor. “I feel like the idea of being trans-black would be much more accurate than ‘I’m white.’ Because you know, I’m not white.”…

Chinese-American Businessman In Hiding After Confessing To Illegal Fundraising For The Clintons; Fears Untimely Death – Zero Hedge

Those who are connected to the crimes and misdemeanors of the Clinton cartel live in hiding for fear of their lives.

Of course there was funneling of money going on. The Wikileaks and Guccifer 2.0 hacks went along way in documenting the quid pro quo nature of Clinton diplomacy.

Back in the 90s, it was selling nuclear secrets to China, and schmoozing with high powered Chinese individuals, caught up in real estate deals, fundraising schemes and the like.

So it is little surprising, though certainly alarming, that this story has surfaced of a Chinese-American businessman who is living in hiding and who felt compelled to make an ‘insurance policy’ video detailing his involvement in the Clinton admin’s “Chinagate” which involved laundered funds from high powered Chinese businessmen:

via Daily Mail:

A Chinese-American businessman at the center of a Clinton campaign finance scandal secretly filmed a tell-all video as an ‘insurance policy’ – because he feared being murdered…

Democrats Choose Smarmy, Little Weasel To Chair DNC – Daily Caller
.

.
Former Obama labor secretary Tom Perez was elected Saturday as the new chair of the Democratic National Committee despite his refusal to definitively say whether the DNC rigged its presidential primary in favor of Hillary Clinton over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Earlier this month, Perez admitted that Sanders’s supporters believed “that the process was rigged and it was.” He walked back his comments that same day, saying he “misspoke” and that “Hillary became our nominee fair and square.”

During Wednesday’s DNC chair debate, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo pressed Perez three times to clarify whether or not he believes the DNC rigged the primary against Sanders. All three times, Perez refused to provide an answer…

Trump Disses Fake News Media By Refusing To Attend White House Correspondents Dinner – Breitbart

Donald Trump has further escalated his war on the mainstream media, as he announced on Saturday that he will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ dinner. Trump will be the first president to do so in 30 years.

In a tweet, Trump said that “I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!”

The dinner, which is set to take place April 29th, is usually attended by the President and first lady, the cabinet, and large swathes of the press. Proceeds go towards scholarships for aspiring journalists, and the event normally hosts a comedian who mocks the President and other members of the press.

In a statement, WHCA president Jeff Mason said the event will go ahead as planned, saying that “We look forward to shining a spotlight at the dinner on some of the best political journalism of the past year and recognizing the promising students who represent the next generation of our profession.”…

Two Days After Leftist Governor Declares Connecticut A Sanctuary State, Illegal Alien Murders Mother, Kidnaps Daughter – Gateway Pundit

On Wednesday Connecticut Governor Daniel Malloy issued a memo to his state’s authorities, telling them to ignore federal law regarding illegal immigrants.

Malloy declared Connecticut a sanctuary state.

On Friday a previously deported illegal alien murdered his girlfriend and kidnapped her six year-old daughter.

Oscar Obedio Hernandez, an illegal alien from El Salvador, was arrested on Friday night.

FOX 61 repotred:

“Oscar Obedio Hernandez, a citizen of El Salvador, was issued a Final Order of Removal by an immigration judge on Oct. 29, 2013,” said spokesman Shawn Neudauer. “He was removed from the United States by ICE officers in Hartford, CT on Nov. 27, 2013…

The 12 Dumbest Ever ‘Bias Incidents’ On America’s College Campuses – Daily Caller

In the last few years, more than 230 American colleges and universities – 143 of them lavishly funded by taxpayers – have launched bias reporting systems encouraging students to report each other for incidents of offensive speech and other kinds of “bias.”

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) published an exhaustive survey of such speech-chilling bias reporting systems earlier this month.

The speech and conduct of some 2.84 million students in the United States are subject to evaluation under bias reporting systems, according to the civil rights group.

The personnel who investigate student speech – usually called some variation of “bias response teams” – frequently includes law enforcement officials as well as school administrators and public relations staffers. Upon a finding of “guilty,” the teams of cops and bureaucrats summon students for hearings. These meetings are often intimidating and quasi-disciplinary. Their function, FIRE suggests, is to enforce a politically correct speech orthodoxy on campuses…

Fifth Circuit Reinstates Texas Law Making It A Felony To Harbor Illegals – NumbersUSA
.

.
A three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals threw out a lower court injunction that blocked Texas from enforcing a 2015 law making it a third-degree felony to “harbor” illegal aliens. The panel ruled that two Texas landlords, who has sued seeking protection from the law, did not have standing because they could not prove a credible threat of prosecution.

The law, which was intended to fight human trafficking, made it a crime to “encourage or induce a person to enter or remain in this country in violation of federal law by concealing, harboring, or shielding that person from detection.” Penalties included jail time and a $10,000 fine.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) challenged the law on behalf two landlords and an immigrant services agency,..

GOP Leaps On Congressional Review Act To Kill Obama Rules – Roll Call

A law that’s been successfully used only once until now is the conduit for a whole lot of action on Capitol Hill.

Republicans in Congress are expected to send a stream of bills – most of which require a single sentence – to President Donald Trump’s desk, using a process known as the Congressional Review Act to repeal agency rules. The act was tucked into 1996 legislation tied to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s famous “Contract with America.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, at a press conference last week, joined a group of Republican leaders who have trumpeted using the CRA to roll back regulations put in place under President Barack Obama. The law allows Congress to repeal certain rules of the previous administration under a fast-track process that requires only a simple majority in the Senate. Congress generally has 60 days to begin repeal of those rules.

“We’re directly attacking the over-regulation issue, thanks to the Congressional Review Act, and plan to take as many of these job-killing regulations off the books as possible,” McConnell said…

Florida Sheriff: We’re Arresting Illegal Alien Predators On A Daily Basis – Conservative Tribune

Liberals have blinded themselves – and attempted to blind others – to the detrimental effects of illegal immigration in favor of being more “politically correct” than their conservative counterparts.

However, one Florida sheriff just explained the true epidemic surrounding illegal aliens that completely destroyed the liberal narrative regarding open borders and lax immigration laws.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” that illegal immigrants have been committing felonies and “preying on people” in communities “across the United States.”…

Hillary Clinton’s Eye Problems Return In DNC Welcome Video – American Mirror

Despite being relieved of the stresses of a presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton’s apparent eye problems reoccurred during a welcome video she produced for the Democratic National Committee meeting on Friday.

Clinton provided a nearly three-and-a-half minute video urging Democrats to fight Trump’s agenda for America.

“We as Democrats must move forward with courage, confidence and optimism, and stay focused on the elections we must win this year and next,” Clinton said.

“Let resistance plus persistence equal progress for our party and our country.”

A close examination of the video shows Clinton’s eye problems – which appeared while she was on the campaign trail – are still evident.

At several points in the video, Hillary’s eyes were not in sync, a condition at least one doctor said can be caused by brain swelling and can lead to double vision…
