The Left does not perceive what liberty is

To the Left, liberty is “free” healthcare, and “free” day care, and “free”this and “free” that. And, of course freedom is never  having to hear, or even be exposed to,  an opposing view

A group of Wellesley College professors recently sent a campus-wide email arguing that bringing controversial speakers to campus can cause grave harm to students.

Grave harm? Oh no, not grave harm!

The full letter, which was obtained and published by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), was written by six professors who stand on the Wellesley Commission for Race, Ethnicity, and Equity.

Noting that Wellesley has hosted “several guest speakers with controversial and objectionable beliefs” in recent years, the professors say that while the believe free speech is “essential to a liberal arts education…there is no doubt that the speakers in question impose on the liberty of students, staff, and faculty at Wellesley.”

Controversial beliefs? Well, any view, on any topic is going to be “controversial” isn’t it? And yes, someone is going to “object” to some of the things said, or written. How does that put anyone in grave danger? Clearly it does not. Now, the real danger these professors are worried about is this, some of the things these students hear might just make them think! And, to be honest, the left hates people who think, and considers such people dangerous. Thinkers are harder to brainwash, harder to indoctrinate, and harder to control, and the left is about nothing if it is not about control. Thinkers will eventually, likely sooner rather than later, reject Leftism and begin to embrace the ideals of individualism, and personal, that is individual liberty. No wonder these professors are concerned. Their students might begin to embrace something other than the Collectivist non-sense they are force feeding students.
