Democrats in Montana have opposed a bill banning the use of foreign law in its state courts on the grounds that such legislation would target Muslims.

Senate Bill 97, introduced by Keith Regier (R-Kalispell) bans the application of foreign law in Montana’s courts, with the debate particularly focused on Sharia Law, a form of Islamic law typically used in the Middle East.

Although the bill passed on party lines by 56-44, Democrats claimed it was designed to target Muslim communities.

“I think it sends a dangerous message to minority groups both here living in our state and wanting to come visit our state, just merely on the fact that you may be different,” said Rep. Shane Morigeau, D-Missoula, while debating the bill. “I truly believe this law is repugnant. I believe this is not who we are as Montanans.”

Poor Rep. Morigeau, so obsessed with seeing bigotry everywhere. The bill bans the use of foreign laws in Montana courts. You can read the bill here Honestly who opposes that? Well certainly activist judges would, and so would Muslim activists who wish to spread Sharia Law across the globe. We know they wish to do this because, well, they tell us they do. Groups like CAIR are spinning Sharia as a wonderful thing and oppose laws that keep Sharia out of American courts. In short they want Sharia here

The Democrats who oppose this bill are willfully blind to what Sharia is, and what it’s proponents are aiming to do.

  1. Law should be God’s laws. Proverbs 26:17 “He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.” A person doing that is asking to be bitten. They that love others will not work ill to others. That fulfills all of the laws of God. USA law and Islamic law fall short of that law that prepares people for life beyond this life. Why are God’s laws and counseling rejected? They are a rock solid laws that should not be rejected.
