John Michael Funk, a 27-year-old Ohio man was jailed Wednesday after he allegedly tried to use a stolen credit card in front of a police officer.
According to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, police responded to a call from Funk’s 60-year-old mother stating that he had stolen her credit card and used it to buy cartons of cigarettes at Main Street Marathon, a local convenience store.
Investigators say while officers were at the store investigating the report, Funk walked in and attempted to use the same card, right in front of police. He was apprehended around 10:30 p.m.
Funk was booked into the Stark County Jail and charged with two counts of theft from an elderly person and one count of receiving stolen property. He was released as a non-violent offender.
This is not Fink’s first run-in with the law. He has been charged with 10 separate offenses so far this year, according to court records.
