When political parties lose big they re-examine their leadership, direction, messaging, and weigh how to stop losing. The Democratic Party, has been losing, and losing big ever since the 2010 midterm elections. They have lost the House, the Senate, suffered massive losses in state legislatures across the nation, and Republicans own a significant majority of governorships. And, in 2016, the Democrats lost the biggest prize, the White House. So, now the Democrats are looking at how they got here. And, seemingly, they have decided to go even further leftwards rather than understanding that their ideals and their rhetoric have turned off most American voters.
We can argue about how many voters identify as Conservative, or Liberal, but one thing is clear, most of us are not Leftists, and, to be honest the Democratic Party is now a leftist party. Worse yet for them, they have chosen to show Americans just how left their party has gone.
They have openly embraced and defended radical groups like Black Lives Matter and, too often the anti-police, and yes racist ideology behind BLM. They have also never condemned the violence of the numerous riots that BLM and its leadership has encouraged. Instead the Democrats have at best soft sold, and at worst advocated for such thuggery. Anyone pointing out that BLM, the entire movement is based on lies is castigated as racist
They have, for all intents and purposes, embraced a policy of destroying our borders and our national sovereignty. They have belittled as racist anyone who dares challenge such nonsense. Again, Americans have seen how anyone who wants even basic immigration laws enforced is labelled a hate monger. Even basic common sense ideas like not allowing massive numbers of unvetted refugees to enter America is attacked by Democrats.
The Democrats have ramped up their anti second amendment rhetoric to new levels. Continually targeting the basic right of self-defense in a nation founded upon such a right is a losing strategy. And doing so while more and more Americans are buying firearms, training with firearms, and legally carrying firearms is a recipe for electoral dysfunction. Demonizing gun owning Americans, and gun rights groups as dangerous while also blaming them for criminal behavior? The Democrats have actually gone around that bend.
How about defending Planned Parenthood after that group was busted for engaging in selling baby parts? Did the Democrats look at those tapes, gasp, and condemn such barbarity? No, they attacked those that exposed the barbarism, and defended giving $500,000,000 in tax dollars to Planned Parenthood. And yes, they told anyone who opposed giving tax dollars to such a group that they were anti-woman.
The list goes on, and on, and on.
Forcing ObamaCare on the country in the most partisan matter that can be imagined. Now, they oppose any effort to even talk of fixing the law.
The repeated smearing of anyone who opposes anything the Democrats call for. And not just smearing, but often smearing in the worst possible manner.
Since the election, that rhetoric has gone up even more. Look at how Hollywood Leftists have trashed Americans who voted for Trump. Look at the rhetoric and vitriol directed towards those people. They have been called stupid, racist, sexist, and many things not printable here. And now, the Democrats are on the verge of choosing a radical Leftist and anti-Semite to head the Democratic National Committee. Now even life long Democrats are saying enough is enough
There has been powerful push from the hard-left of the Democratic Party, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), to elect Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) chairman. If he is elected, I will quit the party after 60 years of loyal association and voting. I will become an independent, continuing to vote for the best candidates, most of whom, I assume, will still be Democrats. But I will not contribute to the DNC or support it as an institution.
My loyalty to my country and my principles and my heritage exceeds any loyalty to my party. I will urge other like-minded people — centrist liberals — to follow my lead and quit the Democratic Party if Ellison is elected chairman. We will not be leaving the Democratic Party we have long supported. The Democratic Party will be leaving us!
Let me explain the reasons for this difficult decision.
Ellison has a long history of sordid association with anti-Semitism. He worked with and repeatedly defended one of a handful of the most notorious and public anti-Semites in our country: The Reverend Louis Farrakhan. And worked with Farrakhan at the very time this anti-Semite was publicly describing Judaism as a “gutter religion” and insisting that the Jews were a primary force in the African slave trade.
Ellison has publicly stated that he was unaware of Farrakhan’s anti-Semitism. That is not a credible statement. Everyone was aware of Farrakhan’s anti-Semitism. Farrakhan did not try to hide it. Indeed, he proclaimed it on every occasion. Ellison is either lying or he willfully blinded himself to what was obvious to everyone else. Neither of these qualities makes him suitable to be the next chairman of the DNC.
Yes, Ellison is about as radical as they come frankly. He vehemently opposes the right to keep and bear arms, even though he lies about that now
Of course, there is more about Ellison that should deeply trouble anyone, regardless of political affiliation. The Weekly Standard takes a look at Ellison
The case against Ellison that should concern all Americans is moral. To borrow a term, he is a bad hombre.
When I speak about Ellison in the Twin Cities, I give a talk titled “The Secret History of Keith Ellison.” The title is facetious. Ellison’s history only became “secret” when he ran for Congress in 2006 and bet his campaign on three lies about his involvement with the Nation of Islam. I recounted and recalled Ellison’s “secret history” in the WEEKLY STANDARD articles “Louis Farrakhan’s First Congressman” and “The Ellison Elision.”
Yet Ellison’s history as an active member and local leader of the Nation of Islam remains a deep secret to Ellison’s constituents in his district. He blatantly lied about it when he was running in the 2006 DFL primary. He suppressed it in his 2014 memoir, My Country, ‘Tis of Thee. Indeed, in his memoir he presented himself as a critic of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.
Go read the whole piece, and the other pieces linked there. They are eye openers. As are Ellison’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood
Ellison has associated with the Muslim American Society, a Virginia-based group founded by Muslim Brotherhood members in 1993 to act as the “overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States,” according to federal prosecutors in 2007. The United Arab Emirates recently added the group to a list of terrorist organizations.
In 2008, the society paid for Ellison, a practicing Muslim, to make a 16-day pilgrimage, known as the hajj, to Mecca. He was joined on the trip by Asad Zaman, who sits on the board of the Muslim American Society’s Minnesota chapter. Zaman has contributed thousands of dollars to Ellison’s congressional runs, both before and after the Mecca trip.
For those who are not aware of what the Muslim Brotherhood really is, consider this
The Chicago Tribune published a lengthy exposé in 2004 about how the Muslim Brotherhood had operated in the United States for decades with a goal of achieving Islamic rule in America. Brotherhood leaders voted in 1993 to create the Muslim American Society to serve as the group’s public face in the United States.
“When the leaders voted, it was decided that Brotherhood members would call themselves the Muslim American Society, or MAS, according to documents and interviews,” wrote the Tribune. “They agreed not to refer to themselves as the Brotherhood but to be more publicly active. They eventually created a Web site and for the first time invited the public to some conferences, which also were used to raise money.”
An internal memo instructed members how to deflect if asked about their ties to the Muslim Brotherhood or its support for terrorism.
“If asked, ‘Are you the Muslim Brothers?’ leaders should respond that they are an independent group called the Muslim American Society. ‘It is a self-explanatory name that does not need further explanation,'” wrote the Tribune. “And if the topic of terrorism were raised, leaders were told to say that they were against terrorism but that jihad was among a Muslim’s ‘divine legal rights’ to be used to defend himself and his people and to spread Islam.”
A former member of the society who quit due to its “anti-American sentiments and its support for violence in the Middle East” told the Tribune that its leaders had a plan to “convert Americans to Islam and elect like-minded Muslims to political office” in the United States.
“If the Brotherhood puts up somebody for an election, Muslims would vote for him not knowing he was with the Brotherhood,” the man said.
Again, go read it all, it is powerful. And after reading it Here is more on Ellison
