Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert has declared his candidacy for Speaker of the House of Representatives against John Boehner.
“After the November elections gave Republicans control of the Senate, voters made clear they wanted change,” Gohmert said in a statement timed alongside a Sunday show interview with Tucker Carlson.
“There have been numerous examples of problematic Republican leadership, but we were hopeful our leaders got the voters’ message,” Gohmert stated. “However, after our Speaker forced through the CRomnibus by passing it with Democratic votes and without time to read it, it seemed clear that we needed new leadership. There had been much discussion. But, until yesterday, no one had stepped up.”
“I applaud my friend Rep. Ted Yoho for putting his name forward as an alternative to the status quo. Ted is a good man for whom I could vote, but I have heard from many supporters and also friends in Congress who have urged me to put forward my name for Speaker as well to increase our chances of change. That is why I am also offering my name as a candidate for Speaker.”
Gohmert’s statement elaborated as to how he can win the Speaker’s race.
“There is false information being floated that any Republican candidates in addition to the current Speaker will split the vote and give the Speaker’s gavel to Congresswoman Pelosi,” Gohmert said. “This is nothing but a scare tactic to keep the current regime in power.”
“As long as Republicans vote for an adult American citizen for Speaker, no Democrat can win. Only if 30 Republicans voted ‘Present’ would there be a chance for a Democrat to win.”
“To win the Speaker’s race, an adult American citizen has to get a clear majority of all Members of Congress on the House floor voting for an eligible person. Voting ‘Present’ simply reduces the number of votes required to win a majority. If no one wins a majority on the first ballot, then we go to a second vote, then a third, until someone gets a majority.”
Gohmert solidified his growing stature in the Republican Party this year with the successful launch of GOHPAC, a tea party PAC to defend primary challengers from their GOP establishment rivals. The PAC helped shine a media light on young conservative candidates like Dan Bongino and Boehner’s Ohio-based primary challenger J.D. Winteregg in the run-up to Dave Brat’s historic defeat of Rep. Eric Cantor in the Virginia eighth district primary.

A document House Majority Leader Eric Cantor distributed to all House Republicans on Tuesday, obtained by Breitbart News, confirms that he is planning to make it appear as though the House is voting to defund Obamacare while using a legislative procedural trick which would allow the Democrat-controlled Senate to strip defunding language from the Continuing Resolution.
“Many House Republicans have stated that they want to pass a CR that affirmatively defunds the implementation and enforcement of Obamacare,” Cantor wrote to House Republican members. “In addition to firmly putting the House on record, such an effort would force the Democrat Senate to confront the issue of defunding, providing Senate Republicans the opportunity to challenge Senate Democrats to join Republicans in blocking the further implementation of this awful and unpopular law.”
“Tactically, we want to engage this battle in a manner that unites House Republicans, provides as few opportunities as possible for Senate Democrats to duck the issue, and ensures that if defunding does not occur that Democrats are held to account,” Cantor added.
Cantor then laid out “The Plan” he and other members of the House GOP leadership will use allowing them to claim they support defunding Obamacare while leaving the fate of the defunding effort in the hands of the Democrat-controlled Senate.
First, he said the House will “simultaneously” consider a Continuing Resolution (CR) that funds the government “at sequester levels” along with a rule, or a “H.Cong.Res. that would amend the CR to include full defunding language.”
The House would vote on the CR, a vote that would include the rule and then send it to the Senate, where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid can then remove the rule’s language after considering it. “The rule for the CR/Defund package provides that the CR cannot be transmitted to the Senate until the Senate has considered the defunding language,” Cantor writes in step number 4 of “The Plan” section of the document.
In step number 5 of “The Plan,” Cantor admits that the Senate can remove the rule language. “If the Senate passes defunding then it gets added to the CR as it goes to the president,” Cantor writes in step 5. “If they defeat it, then the Senate can consider whether they want to pass the CR. If they do, without amendment it goes to the president.”
Breitbart News reported on this plan from Cantor and others in House GOP leadership on Monday evening. After that story, a prominent House conservative source told Breitbart News that members who support defunding Obamacare are organizing and plan to whip against Cantor’s ploy.
“Expect a significant whip effort against the rule among the rank and file if they try to pull the trick on defunding,” the conservative source said.
In a statement provided to Breitbart News, ForAmerica chairman Brent Bozell denounced Cantor’s and Boehner’s ploy. “The latest move announced today by Speaker Boehner and House Republican leadership is nothing more than a cheap parliamentary trick. Once again these Republican ‘leaders’ have failed to commit to defund ObamaCare by any means necessary,” Bozell said.
“Instead they are hiding behind smoke and mirrors by ‘putting the responsibility on the Senate’ to defund ObamaCare. Conservatives and the tea party are fed up with these stupid government tricks,” he continued. “Now it’s the GOP leadership playing them.”
“What they didn’t say was that the vote they will push to the Senate to defund ObamaCare is meaningless and won’t get the job done — and they know it. It is a slap — a cynical, dishonest slap — across the face of everyone who voted for them. This will cost them,” Bozell warned.
“If they do not defund ObamaCare by any means necessary the GOP will own it and they will pay a hefty political price for breaking their promise,” he declared. “To those rank and file members playing this three card monte game, I can say only one thing: Get ready for some primaries.”

The Communist influence in the Teachers Unions is showing Zip at Weasel Zippers notes that a Gallup poll shows a majority of Americans support the idea of armed teachers
Nobody is proposing every teacher carry a loaded gun on a holster, they recommend several people working at a school have access to a firearm in case some lunatic starts shooting. Seems reasonable to me and according to Gallup, 64% of Americans agree with the idea.
..the nation’s two biggest teachers unions warned Thursday that would be a disastrous idea that sends the wrong message to children.
“Some are actually proposing bringing more guns in, turning our educators into objects of fear and increasing the danger in our schools. Guns have no place in our schools. Period,” reads a rare joint statement from the presidents of the National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers.
In their letter, Dennis Van Roekel of the NEA and Randi Weingarten of the AFT called the idea of arming teachers “astounding and disturbing,” saying it runs counter to educators’ vow to provide safe and secure public schools.
In the days following the tragic massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., several high-profile political figures — including Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and Rep. Louie Gohmert, Texas Republican — have suggested that instructors or principals be given firearms. They would kept in secure locations and available only to school leaders, who would use them in the event a gunman enters the building or in the case of some other extreme threat to students.
Former Education Secretary Bill Bennett has also voiced support for the idea.
“Suppose the principal at Sandy Hook Elementary who was killed lunging at the gunman was instead holding a firearm and was well-trained to use it. Would the result have been different? Or suppose you had been in that school when the killer entered, would you have preferred to be armed?” Mr. Bennett wrote in a recent column for CNN.com. “Evidence and common sense suggest yes.”
So, these unions, who I bet do not speak for many of the teachers they claim to represent, would prefer that teachers not be given an option to protect themselves and their students? Apparently so. Evidence shows, overwhelmingly, that Americans with concealed carry permits are incredibly responsible and safe, but the unions, being Leftist are vehemently opposed to allowing such people to help secure our schools. this is sad, but not surprising. Unions like the NEA and AFT have become servants of Leftist ideology rather than teachers. And Leftist ideology loathes armed citizens, and ultimately, individuals being responsible for their own protection. The Left being the Collectivists they are, believe that we ought to be reliant upon government for everything. Gun ownership challenges that, and the Left cannot stand that.
Final… Oh wait, my bad, they actually only voted to ban the word “lunatic” from federal law. For a minute there I bet you thought these worthless shit bags were actually going to do their freaking jobs!
As the nation staggers through hard times toward total ruin as a result of the toll taken on the economy by Big Government, it’s nice to see our rulers finally addressing the serious issues that threaten us:
The word “lunatic” will be stricken from federal law under legislation that passed the House on Wednesday and is headed to President Obama for his signature.
The Congressional action is the latest effort to remove language from federal law that has become outdated or is considered demeaning.
Words are especially “demeaning” when they hit too close to home.
Only one Rep voted against the measure.
The lone “no” vote was cast by Representative Louie Gohmert, Republican of Texas, who said in a statement that “not only should we not eliminate the word ‘lunatic’ from federal law when the most pressing issue of the day is saving our country from bankruptcy, we should use the word to describe the people who want to continue with business as usual in Washington.”
So, in 225 years, America has gone from Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, Washington, Mason, etc. to THIS! One man, ONE in the entire House gets it? And the Republicans have a big majority in the House! Dear God we are so screwed!
The Congressional action is the latest effort to remove language from federal law that has become outdated or is considered demeaning. Two years ago Congress took out references to “mental retardation.”
Priorities people! Where are our priorities?
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) took a shot at President Obama’s foreign policy in an impassioned speech on the House floor Wednesday, slamming the administration’s response to the killings of four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, by radical Islamists during an attack on the U.S. embassy in Libya.
After paying tribute to Stevens, Gohmert seemingly lectured the current administration on its duty to protect the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
“It does not help when an administration in response to American attacks on American Soil and American individuals, the administration ends up asking Americans to give up their First Amendment rights for which our service members are fighting,” Gohmert said. “It doesn’t help when a general asks an American to give up your First Amendment rights rather than proclaiming, ‘We’re the United States military, you have attacked our country, you have attacked our brothers and sisters, and you will pay for that.’”
But that’s not how the federal government responded to the crisis, he explained. After a group of radical Islamists tore apart an American flag at a U.S. consulate in Cairo, the embassy released a statement apologizing for people in America that may have hurt the “religious feelings” of Muslims. To be fair, the White House later released a statement distancing itself from the apology.
“It’s OK to burn a Bible, that’s OK,” Gohmert said, mocking the current administration. “OK to burn a flag, OK, that’s all right,” he continued. “But just, you know, for heaven‘s sake don’t say anything that might offend someone of the Islamic religion.”
Gohmert said he doesn’t encourage anyone to offend Muslims but added that “we should defend ourselves against radical Islamists that want to annihilate this country and destroy our way of life.” President Obama has failed thus far to address the threat of radical Islam, according to Gohmert.
While several U.S. officials and various news reports initially insisted the attacks on the embassy in Libya were because of an anti-Muslim YouTube clip, Gohmert suggested the attack was coordinated and planned to occur on Sept. 11, using the video as a cover to carry out the assault. To back up his claim, he cited a Fox News report. The U.S. government is now investigating whether the attack was indeed planned in advance, according to The New York Times.
The Texas congressman also criticized President Obama for declining an invitation from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet when he is in the United States. He suggested Obama squeeze him into his schedule when he’s not playing golf or holding fundraisers.
“We see people in the Middle East begin to have dreams of new Ottoman Empire where everyone will be subjected to some of what we‘ve seen happen in those countries where we helped bring about an Arab Spring that’s turned into a Winter nightmare,” he said. “This is not a time to play petty personal games, to snub leaders of friends, of allies, even when you disagree with them for heaven’s sake.”
He went on: “Take a little time from a fundraiser, take a little time that you don’t go to the golf course and meet with the leader of a country that sees hatred for its people, anti-semitism, the racism, the bigotry growing around the world, who is scared for its own existence, who can‘t be sure that we’re going to be there with them because of the actions of this administration.”
“I mean, it is an inconvenient thing to have to be president when you really are best at running for office,” he said.

Napolitano is dumber than a tree stump what a disgrace. She is the head of DHS? I would not trust her to order a hamburger without adult supervision. Why not answer the question? She is dodging, and everyone knows it, including Rep John Conyers, he is the one that you hear calling for “regular order” in an effort to bail Secretary “DUH” out.
