Not only did pro-life candidates win huge election victories across the board last night, but black pro-life candidates won as well and helped undermine false criticism from the other side that somehow the pro-life issue is not one that resonates with African-Americans.
In the deep South, South Carolina voters sent pro-life Republican Tim Scott back to the U.S. Senate, making him the first black candidate to win a statewide race there since just after the Civil War. Scott is also the first African-American senator from the South since Reconstruction.
Scott’s victory was so certain that his race was called moments after polls officially closed.
Governor Nikki Haley, who is also pro-life also won her re-election bid, appointed Scott after pro-life Senator Jim DeMint stepped down from his seat to run the Heritage Foundation. Scott has served in the Senate since January 2013 and he won the race to complete DeMint’s term. He will run for a full six-year term in 2016.
Meanwhile, in Utah, Mia Love won her congressional race to become the first black Republican woman in Congress. Love is a proudly pro-life candidate who had strong support from pro-life groups.
“I am proud to say that I am pro-life. My commitment to pro-life policies is unwavering, and I look forward to working with others in Congress to protect the right to life. I have received endorsements from multiple pro-life organizations, including the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the nation’s oldest and largest pro-life organization,” she said during the campaign.
And in Texas, pro-life congressional candidate Will Hurd won his race, unseating Rep. Pete Gallego.
“I sleep like a baby every night knowing I did absolutely everything I could to win this race,” Hurd said of waiting until the bitter end for results. “We always knew it was going to come down to the very end.”
Texas GOP Chairman Steve Munisteri said “we have a truly historic result because Will will be the first Republican of African-American descent from the state of Texas since Reconstruction to represent our state in the House of Representatives.”
National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden congratulated Hurd on a “hard-earned victory.”
“Will ran a fantastic campaign that focused on the issues Texans care about. Will truly has dedicated his life to helping his country and this is yet another proud chapter,” Walden said. “I’m honored to call him a friend and colleague.”
Claims that the Republican Party is somehow inherently racist or has no appeal to Africa-Americans will be harder to make now.
I may offend some people by the words in this post, but, oh well, it is not like I have not stepped on toes before. So, if you are overly sensitive, or expect that certain words can never be uttered or written you can start whining now. I am well past fed up with the Left and the aim to destroy dissent, free speech, and this nation, and I will not surrender the language to them.
After Sen. Tim Scott R-SC was called a “dummy” by the head of the South Carolina NAACP The NAACP, which has devolved from being a needed civil rights group to being a gang of thuggish Left-Wing race baiters has now doubled down of this hateful, racist language
The NAACP isn’t apologizing to Tim Scott for calling him a puppet. In a statement, it argued that the label reflected that Scott, one of the Senate’s two black members, hasn’t honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. because he’s been “echoing the position of the far right.”
The organization was defending comments by one of its most prominent officials, North Carolina NAACP president William Barber II, who had called South Carolina’s junior senator a ventriloquist’s “dummy” for the GOP.
“Dr. King emphasized love and justice rather than extremism. Unless we stand for justice we cannot claim allegiance to or pay homage to Dr. King,” the NAACP said in a statement to Fox News. “In a state such as South Carolina, politicians, whether they be black or white, should not be echoing the position of the far right.”
See, they are calling Senator Scott an Uncle Tom because, TOLERANCE! Apparently anyone seeking to honor Dr. King now must get the expressed approval of the ideological slave masters of the NAACP. Which brings me to a new slogan I think fits the NAACP, and most other Left Wing groups to a tee! It might sound offensive, but anyone who thinks will understand that I am condemning the NAACP and their Ideological War on Black Conservatives. So here it is, a slogan that truly fits the NAACP and it’s attitude towards Blacks Americans that think for themselves. Nigger, Know Your Place!
On the eve of Martin Luther King Day, the president of the North Carolina chapter of the NAACP denounced conservatives and denigrated one of the U.S. Senate’s two black senators.
“A ventriloquist can always find a good dummy,” Rev. William Barber II said of South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott, according to South Carolina’s The State. “[T]he extreme right wing down here (in South Carolina) finds a black guy to be senator and claims he’s the first black senator since Reconstruction and then he goes to Washington, D.C., and articulates the agenda of the Tea Party.”
Barber, who has made a name for himself protesting Republican initiatives in North Carolina with his “Moral Monday” rallies, also told the crowd of 300 at Zion Baptist Church in downtown Columbia, South Carolina that voting, health care, the environment and education “are moral issues, faith issues.” Pastors who obsess on prayer, homosexuality and abortion while ignoring social justice issues are “just running their mouths,” he said.
Would it surprise you he’s Republican?
Would it surprise you he’s the only black Senator at this time?
Noticeably absent from the speaker line-up at the Let Freedom Ring event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington today: the nation’s only black Senator, Tim Scott.
African-American leaders who did receive an invitation to speak at included Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) – who participated in the original March – Martin Luther King III, MSNBC host Al Sharpton and movie stars Jamie Foxx, Oprah Winfrey and Forest Whitaker.
Senator Scott likely would have been invited, if those putting this thing together gave a damn about MLK’s legacy or his dream. What a joke!
Despicable. What is wrong with the NAACP? Racists like Ben Jealous
………………….You are not Black unless I say you are Black
Michelle Malkin was on with Megyn Kelly today to discuss the response of the New York Times and academic liberal Adolph L. Reed Jr., to the appointment of Tim Scott in the Senate to replace Jim DeMint, calling Scott a ‘cynical token’. Michelle Malkin points out that this is born out of the idea that minorities should be Democrats which is prominent in the “festering cesspools of academia” and it leads them to “denigrate, mock and insult minority conservatives.”
But she asks “who is doing the tokenizing here?” because it’s the left who preaches celebrating diversity, celebration that Malkin says is always just “skin deep.” She says that minority conservatives are really a threat to the left because “there is nothing more dangerous to liberals than the liberated mind of a minority conservative.”
This is part of the Left’s war on intellectual diversity, the only diversity that really matters frankly, folks. They want every minority to be brainwashed into the group think of identity politics.
